Hi,
I am visiting Brussels again this year and really looking forward to returning. The other half has expressed a wish to travel to either Bruges or Ghent on one of the days we are there. I was wondering roughly how much train tickets to these places would cost - and how regular the trains are/how they will take?
Could we go from Bruxelles-Centraale station direct?
Also which of these two places would anyone recommend he visits if anyone has a preference, and how long would it take to have a good look around? I have been to both before, but my memeories are very faded!
Thanks,
Twinkly

1. For prices to Brugge see tripadvisor.com/ShowTopic-g188671-i448-k1064…
2. Several trains an hour, those with final destination Oostende, Knokke or Blankenberge take 30 minutes to Gent-Sint-Pieters, 1 hour to Brugge.
3. If your %26quot;other half%26quot; has not been there before, I would recommend Brugge over Ghent, and you should spend the whole day there to do it justice.

thanks very much for your help qaminari!
I thought probably Brugge but wasn%26#39;t sure. I%26#39;ll have a look at prices - is it cheaper if you book in advance? Or will it be the same price on the day?

You can%26#39;t book in advance as it is not possible to reserve seats on non-high-speed (= Eurostar/Thalys)/night trains, unless you happen to be a group of at least 15. You can buy a ticket in advance - which does not guarantee a seat and does not tie you to a specific train on the date you buy it for - but there is no price advantage in doing so. However, if you had read the information in the previous response I gave you the link to, you would have seen that the price is lower at weekends.

there%26#39;s no need to be rude qaminari - i did read your reply and noted the price difference at weekends, but that wasn%26#39;t what I asked. I asked if it would be cheaper to book in advance or not. So thank you for your reply to my question, but there was no need to imply that I wasn%26#39;t grateful for your effort - I did thank you after all.
