Kortrijk--can you help?

In an upcoming short trip to Belgium it appears that, for time and logistics reasons, I may need to stay in Kortrijk (with most of a day free). Is Kortrijk of interest on its own? From pictures it looks like it%26#39;s quite a charming little town. Nice picturesque, historic buildings along a river with possible nice places to walk and look around? Any suggestions for hotels or restaurants in the city center? Will I be exchanging good for good if I spend less time in Brussels and have to stay in Kortrijk instead? Any comments would be appreciated!

Hi Somerset,

The center of Kortrijk is nice for a half days%26#39; visit (incl. a museum) ...maybe it%26#39;s an idea to take the train towards Ghent or Bruges, both cities are half an hour from Kortrijk by train and are both real gems of small medieval cities...

So Kortrijk has some nice corners but can%26#39;t compare with the cities I%26#39;ve mentioned above...

Greetings,

Thanks Duke for the suggestions. I haven%26#39;t been to Brugge so that%26#39;s an interesting idea!
