Belgium to Rothenburg

After visiting Belgium in 2 weeks, we would like to travel to Germany down the Romantic Road toward Rothenburg, but have no car. Any suggestions on the easiest way to get these? Trains, busses, etc... Any info would be greatly appreciated!

Train to Frankfurt (InterCity trains depart Bruxelles-Midi at 06.59, 11.59 and 17.59, arr. Frankfurt Hbf 10.30, 15.39 or 21.30, cost €94.80 one way; or you can do it by Thalys, see www.thalys.com) and then Romantic Road bus from there, see deutsche-touring.de/id/…10englstart1.html.

Or look up train timetables to some other departure point on http://www.b-rail.be/int/E/ or http://bahn.hafas.de/bin/query.exe/en.

I would take the train to Rothenburg station, probably from Frankfurt. The station is outside of the walled part of the city, but is still within easy walking distance. We drove part of the Romantic Road%26#39; behind many a bus and it isn%26#39;t so romantic - just long.

Be sure to take the Nightwatchman%26#39;s tour when in Rothenburg. When we lived in Germany, we took all of our visitors there and the Nightwatchman%26#39;s tour, was the highlight - I can even do the tour, I%26#39;ve been on it so many times. He has a website, linked to the Rothenburg city website -rothenburgdotde.

If possible, stay inside the walls, it makes a nice experience at night when the tour buses are gone.

We%26#39;ve stayed in a couple of different hotels there, but the following are the family favorites.

Klosterstüble is a nice small hotel with a restaurant, as is Altfränkische Weinstuben. They both have restaurants, which are good examples of German fare.

Burg Hotel is lovely, and very quiet, but a bit more expensive, than the previous 2. It is still a very reasonably priced hotel. I don%26#39;t think that they have a restaurant (hotel garni).
