Brussels - Brugge - Antwerp OR Brussels-Amsterdam Confused!!

Hi Guys,

I have seen a lot of conversations regarding Belgium, Brussels n Amsterdam. Still not sure - How to utilize my stay in Brussels very possible way...!

We are planning to come to Brussels during Easter Weekend (landing 5th April and flying out 9th April in night). Initially thought of enjoying brussels for a day and next day in Brugge (hope a day is fine for both to have a look at the main attractions!!!) and third day in Antwerp.

Now wondering if we could spend a day in Amsterdam and come back to brussels. Would it be a good option?

Also if doing Brussels - Brugge - Antwerp, would renting a car be a good move? Or else enjoying trains/buses?

Love to stay close to town center, What hotel would you recommend?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. (At the moment dont have any idea about the place and we just blank!!!)

Thanks in advance.

Cheers.

As in response to previous questions, in Brussels I recommend any hotel near the Grand%26#39; Place, in particular the Méridien which is just across the road from the Gare centrale, from which you can travel by train to all the places you mention. There are no buses between these cities (apart from Eurolines between Brussels and Amsterdam, which takes over 4 hours) and I would not recommend hiring a car if you are only visiting cities and if you are staying in central Brussels.

In Brussels, you can see the Grand%26#39; Place and Galeries St. Hubert in a few hours, if that is all you want to see of the city.

It takes an hour on the train to Brugge, there are plenty of trains (at least 2 an hour) and you can easily see it in a day. I have given the time of the last train back to Brussels in a previous question, from memory it is nearly 11 p.m. Cost btw is €24 return on a weekday but half that at weekends.

Depending on which train you catch it takes about 45 minutes from Brussels to Antwerpen-Centraal, cost is €12.20 return, and again half that at weekends.

From Bruxelles-central (which I have used for all the previous timings) it takes 3 hours by InterCity train to Amsterdam-Centraal so you could do it in a day if you wanted to. You can check timetables on http://www.b-rail.be/int/E/ but the best direct trains are dep. 09:44

arr. 12:38 (if that%26#39;s too late the earliest direct train is 06.44 arr. 9.38, or changing in Antwerpen-Berchem, dep. 07:39 arr. 10:38), and to return from Amsterdam, dep. 19:26 arr. 22:16 or dep. 20:26 arr. 23:16. You don%26#39;t have to reserve (unlike with Thalys, www.thalys.com) but can buy your ticket either on the day of travel or, if convenient, the day before at the international window at the station - but then you must specify the date of travel.

hi.

brussels and brugge are so beautiful cities(i haven%26#39;t been to antwerp) that i believe deserve much more than just a day in each of them.
