Hi,
We are trying to decide what to do during the coming easter holiday. I was thinking of going to Brussels, but one of my colleagues at work said there is not much in Brussels to see and that I should try going to Brugge, Brussels and Antwerp if I decide to go during that holiday. Thus, I%26#39;m trying to determine what type of itinerary should I plan for---half a day in Brussels, one or 2 days in Brugge or Antwerp, and also----what are the average train prices to go between these cities? We would plan to leave on thurs nite and get back monday nite, so we would have almost 4 days to play with. Any suggestions as to what to do/where to go would be highly appreciated!
thanks in advance!!!

it all depends on how much you want to travel and what kind of city you like.
Personally I wouldn%26#39;t spend 4 days in Brussels.
You could book a hotel in Brussels and then visit Brugge, Gent, Antwerp each one day.
I personally really like Gent also and wouldn%26#39;t leave it out.
try www.b-rail.be for trainprices/schedules.
What are you interested in seeing/doing? do you like art/fashion/food/beer/..??
If you need some advice on what to do/see/where to eat in Antwerp I%26#39;d gladly help you out.

Thanks for your reply....
So I can book a hotel in Brussels andn then travel by train to the cities you mentioned above? Are any of those cities worth the stay at nite---meaning, I could book the later train back to Brussels to experience a bit of the nite sights. Not much of a pub person so not really interested in hanging out at the pubs. Thanks again.

I would strongly advise you to buy a guidebook to Belgium and/or look at websites and the list of %26quot;Brussels attractions%26quot; in the Brussels forum and the equivalent in the Brugge and Antwerp forums to decide how much there is FOR YOU to do in these cities. If you have no interest in art, architecture, etc., I%26#39;m not sure what you would want to come here for! You could see the highlights of Brussels (Grand%26#39; Place and Galeries St. Hubert) in half a day but it would be a pity not to spend a day here and perhaps visit the Musical Instrument Museum, if only for the interesting building and the view from the rooftop café.
Weekend return tickets are half price for train travel in Belgium, so you could go to Antwerp on Saturday and Brugge on Sunday for 12.20 and 12.80 EUR respectively (normal return cost would be double that). You could then decide on Monday whether you want to see any more of Brussels and if not, take the train to Leuven (+/- 30 mins) and back, which would cost 8.80 EUR return.

Thanks qaminari for the informative post!
We are arriving on thurs evening and we%26#39;re thinking of going to Gent on Friday, and follow your advice for saturday and sunday; we are thinking of leaving Brussels late on monday evening, and thus, we can see the city on this day. By the way, is friday April 6th a holiday there? Also, due to some free vouchers I won, we are looking into staying at the hilton on:
38, Boulevard de Waterloo, Brussels 1000, Belgium
There is another Hilton within walking distance to the noordstation, from what I%26#39;ve been reading but the one on boulevard de waterloo is supposed to be nicer, and since is free, well, we figured we would try the nicer hotel.
However, been trying to find out what type of public transportation can take us from the hotel to the noordstation but haven%26#39;t been able to see anything yet. Do you have any suggestions? thanks again!
