Lace in Brugge

Will have a very short time in Brugge, and need to know the best place to purchase Belgian lace tablecloths, doillys, etc.? I am on a budget, and hoping to locate the source the locals use. Thanks.

I%26#39;m sorry to tell you this, but in my experience, locals don%26#39;t buy lace at all - some may inherit it from the family, but modern Belgians don%26#39;t use it anyway, and if they buy it as a present for foreigners, they go to the same tourist shops as anyone else. Cheap lace is likely to be from Taiwan, by the way. There used to be a lace-making school from which it was sometimes possible to buy things made by the trainees, but I believe it has closed.

The school still exists and is next to the Jeruzalem church.

Best place for the moment is Lace Jewel at Philipstockstraat. They are selling out!

Thanks for the replies. Do you think the place selling out will still be there by April 5th? Thanks.
