paddle boat trip from Damme to Brugge

We are thinking of renting a bike in Brugge to ride along the canal to Damme. We want to take the paddle wheel boat back. Can we take the bikes on board the boat with us on the return trip. If we cant take them on board is there a place to leave the bikes in Damme for them to be sent to Brugge later.

In my opinion the answer is no in both cases, but as regards taking bikes on the boat, you will have to contact the boat company, see http://www.bootdammebrugge.be/index_e.html

You could also ask wherever you were thinking of hiring bikes from in Brugge whether by any chance there is somewhere to leave them in Damme, or you could take the boat to Damme and hire a bike to return to Brugge, if of course THEY have somewhere for you to leave them in Brugge! Contact points on goeurope.about.com/cs/belguim/a/damme.htm.

Normally you have to return bikes to the place you hired them from, with the possible exception of bikes hired from railway stations, which you could leave at another station (but there isn%26#39;t one in Damme).

If it is of any help, I can tell you I didn%26#39;t think much of this boat trip anyway (which I have done from Brugge to Damme): as you will be cycling along much the same route, I don%26#39;t think you are going to see anything different from the boat.

The biking trail is next to the canal on which the boat will sail from Brugge to Damme and vice-versa.

In case you%26#39;re concerned about the distance, the bike ride to Damme is less than half an hour (7 km). It%26#39;s really a piece of cake, even for me who is a bad biker and in very bad shape ...
