Easter Weekend

Thinking of visiting Brussels next year over Easter Weekend, starting Good Friday coming back Easter Monday (Less time off work), what are the opening hours for shops over easter and will bars be open easter sunday, good friday. And fianlly will the airport trains still run?

Many thanks.

Public transport of all sorts in Belgium runs Sunday service on public holidays, and only Easter Monday is a public holiday (at Easter, i.e. Good Friday is not). The airport train runs every day of the year.

Monday is in any case the normal closing day for many museums, see recent question about what is and isn%26#39;t open on Mondays in Brussels. Bars and restaurants open much the same days and hours at Easter as at other times, especially in the centre of the city which is where you are likely to be. You can check precise opening/closing days for specific restaurants on www.resto.be.

In summary, shops, restaurants and museums will be open on Friday and Saturday, shops will be closed as usual on Sunday (except in the Sablon/Marolles area) and both museums and (because of the public holiday) shops will be closed on Easter Monday. Plenty of tourist attractoins remain open, however, such as the hop-on, hop-off buses, the Atomium and mini-Europe.
