Hotel Help

Hello,

My husband and I are looking for an inexpensive, clean hotel in a safe area for 3 nights in May. Does anyone have any recommendations. We can stay anywhere as long as we have access to the metro.

Thank you for you help.

Welcome Hotel by Ste. Catherine metro station always seems to score highly in TA members%26#39; ratings (see under %26quot;Brussels hotels%26quot; in list on the left). Otherwise, try the Opéra in rue Grétry, or if you don%26#39;t mind being further out, the Derby (Mérode metro). However, if you are coming for a weekend, all the big hotels drop their prices for Friday and Saturday night.

The only areas I would avoid, where you will find hotels, are around the Gare du Midi and the BACK (not rue du Progrès which is OK) of the Gare du Nord, not so much because they are unsafe but because they are run down and depressing places to stay in.

Thank you for your suggestion. Can anyone recommend a hotel that is around the 40-60 euro price marker? We will be in Brussels for a sunday night and two weekday nights.

Thank you for your help!

You will really struggle to get anything habitable mon-thu for 40-60 euros generally...Sunday at that price is easy enough. Try www.booking.com. They generally have the best deals and have user ratings. You don%26#39;t say which dates in May but you arelikely to get cheaper rates on the Belgian bank holidays - Tue 1st May which would mean good rates on Monday too as mnay businesses won%26#39;t be using the hotel or Mon 28th for the same reasons. Wait till the last minute as rates will drop

The Holiday Inn just off Schuman roundabout is very nice. Very clean and less then 5 min walk to Schuman metro

The Holiday Inn Schuman costs €52 only on Friday and Saturday nights, otherwise its cheapest price (unless you can find something better through a booking agency) Sun-Thurs is €75 booked 3 days in advance. Contrary to what someone says above, Sunday is NOT a day on which you can benefit from cheap weekend rates because hotels have no problems filling their rooms from Sunday evening (when businessmen and national officials arrive for meetings on Monday morning) till Thursday evening inclusive; as business meetings finish on Friday afternoon - often before 16:00, hotels aimed at the business/EU market have problems filling their rooms on Fri and Sat nights, hence price reductions for those days.

I also think €40-€60 is pushing it, but of course you can do your own research using the average prices given in the list %26quot;Brussels Hotels%26quot;, which are given in € as well as $. Otherwise, try on here:

Contrary to what Gaminari says you will find very good rates on a Sunday. Some hotels do have business clients arriving on a Sunday evening but in general as in all major cities Sunday is THE quietest night of the week - if you work in the hotel or related business you would know this...For instance you can find plenty of 3rd night free offers through Tour Operators if you arrive on a Friday - now which is the 3rd night?
