Bruge to Frankfurt

Hi,

I plan to travel from Paris to Bruges, spend 2 nights, then back to Frankfurt; What is the best/cheapest way to do this with the trains?

Also, does it make sense to stay in Bruges or Brussels ?

From Paris to Brussels you have no choice but Thalys, see www.thalys.com for the price for your date of travel. As you will only be travelling one way you won%26#39;t qualify for the cheapest fare, which is return only. I think the full Librys fare currently costs €78.

Since you have to change in Brussels when returning from Brugge to go to Frankfurt, you could buy a return ticket between Brussels and Brugge, but it isn%26#39;t worth it. A single ticket costs €12, a normal return €24 and a weekend return €12.80. However, prices for Frankfurt are from any Belgian station so the same whether your ticket starts in Brugge or Brussels.

Between Brussels and Frankfurt, you can also check prices on Thalys, but it is generally cheaper to use the InterCity trains which leave Bruxelles-Midi at 11.59 and 19.59. Cost is €94.80 whether from Brugge or Brussels; you can reserve a seat on the train from Brussels to Frankurt for a further €3.

See http://www.b-rail.be/int/E/ (international part of the Belgian Railways timetable).

If you don%26#39;t want to visit Brussels at all, then of course it makes sense to stay in Brugge. If you do, then it would make sense to stay in Brussels on arrival from Paris, in which case take a local train (included in your ticket to Brussels) one stop from Gare du Midi to Gare centrale and stay around there as it is near the Grand%26#39; Place, and for your train to Brugge (of which there are at least 2 an hour to destinations like Ostende, Blankenberge and Knokke) you can in any case leave from Gare centrale.
