Brussels to Paris

Hi everyone,

I went to the SNCB (b-rail.be) site to purchase tickets online to go from Brussels to Paris. I tried using different credit cards but still got declined. Not sure if it is because these are U.S. credit cards?

Will it be too late to purchase to buy tickets in person at the train station one day prior to departure? Can I buy tickets at Central Station if the departure station is Midi?

Any thoughts will be appreciated.

Thanks,

1. No idea as I don%26#39;t have U.S. credit cards, I thought there was a %26quot;contact%26quot; button on the b-rail website you could use to ask SNCB for assistance. However, as you can only go to Paris by Thalys, you could also try using www.thalys.com instead. You will have to select delivery in Belgium, and I understand that you can select any convenient station (e.g. Gare centrale), not just the station of departure (Gare du Midi).

2. Probably not, but you would have to pay the full normal fare, as you have to buy in advance for the cheapest deals.

3. Yes, you can buy them at any Brussels station with an international ticket desk, including Gare centrale. Note that you can then travel on that ticket on a local train to Gare du Midi to change onto the Thalys, as tickets are valid from any Brussels station.

Try the Eurail site (http://www.raileurope.com/us/index.htm). I%26#39;ve had mostly good experience with them. Their tickets are generally average, sometimes a little more, sometimes a little less (once a lot less) than the local purchase. Having said that, the Brussels-Paris train is prob. the most expensive I%26#39;ve seen, given the distance. Never figured out why. (My tix from Paris to Geneva was a little less, if I remember right).

You can buy tix anywhere. You may want to get a reservation even if you don%26#39;t buy a tix through raileurope.

It%26#39;s prob. not the cc, but who knows?
