Am planning to stay for 5 nights in Belgium. I am considering to stay outside Brussels in a more quite place. Can anyone please suggest which is the best place?.....Gent? Bruge? Antwerp? ? ?

It might depend on when you would be coming, because Ghent is far noisier than Brussels during the Gentse Feesten (July), but it is in other respects a good choice because it is centrally located: exactly half-way between Brugge and Brussels, so 30 minutes to each by train, and 1h19 to Antwerp.

Thanks for your help. Knowing that you are a Brussels tourism expert, do you think it is better to stay in Ghent rather than in Brussels.

Just because I know something about Brussels (as a resident, not a tourist) does not mean I would say it is the best place for you, without knowing anything about what you want to do or see on your trip!! Of course it has its attractions, but if you want to stay in a small city, you would be happier in Medieval Brugge or even Ghent, which I also suggested on the grounds of logistics. However, Belgium is not very big, and from Brussels you can get by train to Ghent in 30 minutes, Antwerp in 45 and Brugge in 60.
I can only advise you to look at %26quot;Belgium Attractions%26quot; in the list on the left, and then in the specific forums, %26quot;Brussels Attractions%26quot;, %26quot;Brugge Attractions%26quot;, etc. to work out what you want to do.

I agree with gaminari, Brussels is a small town and I can%26#39;t imagine trying to find a more %26quot;quiet%26quot; town. It%26#39;s picturesque and lively in the central %26quot;touristy%26quot; area but definitely not what I would consider to be busy. Nothing like Paris or London. I loved visiting it. Definitely go and visit other towns though because 5 days in Brussels is a long time. I was there for 3 days and I saw the major sites as well as the outlying areas of the city well before I had to leave. I ran out of things to do! There%26#39;s only so many beers you can drink and chocolate to eat after seeing the major sites :o)
