Hi!
Hope to get a quick answer about where to take a group of 19 for lunch on the 5/5?
We will be on a meeting on Berlaymont Hotel that finish at 12. We will then have time for lunch and transport to The Grand Place where we shall be at 3pm.
We are on a budget and need to keep it below 16 Euro.
Please help me in this matter.
Thank you in advance!

I would go straight to the Grand%26#39; Place area and eat at the Amadeo in rue Ste. Catherine (not far from the Bourse, which is itself near the GP), which is huge and could take you without reservations. They do all-you-can-eat spare ribs and some other things (scampi..):

If you want to eat in the Schuman area, you will have to reserve, La Brace does some of the best pizzas in Brussels and could take you in its upstairs room:

(Ignore the €30 indication, that would be for a full meal with starter, main course and dessert - for €16 you will no doubt be sticking to something like pizza!)

Thank you thank you!
I have seen that there is some kind of a celebration this weekend? Iris something? Will this make restaurants to be open on sunday even if they usually stay closed?
Any ideas about lunch on sunday? Is it better to take Amadeo on sunday as many places are closed on sundays?

The Fête de l%26#39;Iris is the festival of Brussels City/Region - the iris is the emblem of Brussels. It will have no effect whatsoever on restaurants%26#39; opening hours/days especially in the EU quarter - where you may have noticed many restaurants are closed on Saturday lunchtimes as well as Sundays, because they exist to serve office workers who aren%26#39;t around at weekends.
For the Iris weekend, there will be a free concert at 21:00 hrs on Saturday in the Grand-Place, while on Sunday there will be street celebrations of some sort around Place St. Jean/rue du Lombard (and the nearby Brussels Parliament will be open to visitors...).
Yes you could save the Amedeo for Sunday and while you might have to split the group up to do it (there are a number of small restaurants one next to the other), you can also eat cheaply in %26quot;pitta street%26quot;, officially rue du Marché aux Fromages which leads off the rue de l%26#39;Etuve (street going from Grand%26#39; Place to Manneken Pis) opposite the Amigo Hotel. As these are very cheap you might then also like to have waffles in the café above Dandoy, bang opposite the Amigo, it%26#39;s the best place in Brussels to have them.
Incidentally I realised that if you prefer Greek to Italian, the Kafeneo in rue Stévin (just downhill from Bd. Charlemagne) is also big enough, open, and can be done within your budget, see www.resto.be/ware/details.jsp…
Also, if it%26#39;s the Silken Berlaymont hotel you will be staying at, they have a coffee bar where you can get decent sandwiches, assuming that they do them on weekends (they get a lot of office workers during the week) and there is plenty of seating upstairs.
