My family (including a 3-year old) have 2 days to spend in Belgium. I%26#39;ve been to Brugge, so I would like to visit another city. I%26#39;d be happy to stay in one town/city for both nights, and do a day-trip to another city one of the days. Not too much travel, though - we will have just completed a long drive. Some place that is pretty and low-key would be great.

If you are driving from Paris to Leiden as implied by other questions, www.viamichelin.com gives the fastest route as passing close to Lille, Kortrijk (Courtrai), Ghent and Antwerp.
If you want to stay in a small town rather than a busy city (like Ghent), check out Lier, near Antwerp, see http://www.trabel.com/lier/lier.htm.
However, I don%26#39;t know what you are doing in the Aalst forum (rather than the one for Belgium) unless you were really intending to ask about staying in Aalst?

The post in the Aalst forum was a mistake. I meant to post it in another forum. Thank you for your ideas.

I was wondering the same about Aalst ... absolutely nothing to do there.
Don%26#39;t know if it%26#39;s on your route, but Mechelen is pretty, too.
