restaurant suggestions welcome

Looking for suggestions for a restaurant for a memorable dining experience on a Monday night in Brussels? Also, how would I go about making a reservation?

hi.

a very special restaurant is maison du boeuf in hilton brussels.very elegant place.

It%26#39;s trite and it%26#39;s sort of a chain, but Chez Leon is a good bet. (Rue des Bouchers, near Grand Place). No reservations nec., I don%26#39;t think. Walking down R. Bouchers is an experience in itself.

The snail lady in Grand Place, Dandoy%26#39;s, Australian Ice Cream were my memorable snacks.

If you%26#39;re going to the music museum, have lunch at the cafe, it%26#39;s not that expensive, and it%26#39;s nice there.

I ate at 3 different places: Aux Armes de Bruxelles on R. d. Bouchers, ate at outside table for lunch (it was quite good--had the 1/2 lobster waterzooi and green salade), Le Marmiton--at entrance of R. des bouchers at the Passage for dinner. I had an outside table looking at all the restaurants down r. Bouchers so very interesting ambience. Food was good--had Bresque (sp?) chicken in mushroom sauce and a great carmelized apple crepe. Also had dinner at Rugby%26#39;s 2, in outdoor tented type terrace on Pl. St. Catherine--again nice ambience with all the outdoor eating places and people around. There I had crab croquettes and 1/2 lobster with sauce--again food was good. At all 3 places the food was good to quite good but not over the top gourmet and the places had nice ambience but not elegant--so it depends what you%26#39;re looking for and the price you want to pay.

As indicated by others, you need to be selective in eating at the places on R. des Bouchers--some are quite sketchy and touristy, particularly the ones with pictures of the food outside!! But the ones I mentioned combined good food with the great atmosphere of the place.

You asked about reservations and I forgot to answer. I didn%26#39;t need reservations where I ate (on thurs noon, thurs nite and fri nite respectively). If you did go to a restaurant where you thought you would need them, you could just call ahead once you got the phone no. of the restaurant (from guidebooks or maybe on line). Most places will be English speaking.
