Check out the bars around the St. Gery area in the centre of town (tram stop: Bourse), notably the Mezzo bar, Le Bizon, Mappamundos.
There is a really good Thai restaurant called Davi%26#39;s in this area. Although it%26#39;s advisable to book in advance as its very popular.
And if you are looking for more %26quot;grown-up%26quot; entertainment, then check out the area around Gare du Nord (although be extra vigilant)

Pick a different city would be a good start. Brussels is expensive and not much for that type of nightlife.
