College Students visiting Brussels

Hello, what area would you recommend 2 college students stay?

-thanks, deb

It doesn%26#39;t matter all that much, Brussels is a small city and you can get just about anywhere by public transport. The student area is in part of the commune of Ixelles, on the 71 bus route, but your first consideration is going to be where can you AFFORD to stay? I don%26#39;t know of any hotels or youth hostels near the universities, so you might want to consider somewhere like the Welcome Hotel by Ste. Catherine metro station, look under %26quot;Brussels Hotels%26quot; on the left for reviews by TA users.

Can you recommend any eurostar packages for the weekend -London to Brussels, I was wondering if there was a discount package out there for 2 college students? Any company you can recommend? Thanks again, deb

Sorry I live in Brussels so have no idea about package deals offered in the UK, but I presume you have looked at the Eurostar website?

eurostar.com/UK/uk/leisure/latest_deals.jsp

As these deals are likely to use rather expensive hotels, you should compare any such packages with the cost of a standard youth fare (40 GBP single, 49-59 GBP return) on the Eurostar plus cheap accommodation, e.g. in a youth hostel (google Brussels youth hostels) or cheapish hotel like the Welcome or the Derby. Although, if by any chance you are coming at the weekend, most hotels in Brussels drop their prices considerably then, so you could say somewhere like the Novotel %26quot;off Grand%26#39; Place%26quot;, right in the centre near most of the things you would want to see:

Whether you were staying around the Grand%26#39; Place or at Ste. Catherine, you would be quite near the bars and cafés in St. Géry, where I understand young people hang out.

Thanks, when you say single and return, what does that mean? Is %26quot;return%26quot; round trip fare, or do I have that wrong? deb
