1. Assuming that you mean Brussels Airport (Zaventem), you can take a train from directly below the airport. At some times these are direct (e.g. 52 minutes past each hour, train going to De Panne, 49 mins), at others you have to change at Bruxelles-Nord, either way it should take less than an hour (I say should because there are one or two stopping trains that would take 1 1/2 hours). Note that you will arrive at Gent Sint Pieters and tram no. 1 goes from there to the town centre, and stops at Gravensteen which is close to the hostel below.
2. De Draecke, see http://www.jeugdherbergen.be/gentE.htm. http://www.jeugdherbergen.be/gentE.htm
However, if you look under Ghent Hotels in the list on the left, you will also find B%26amp;Bs and guesthouses that would be within your budget.
3. As it happens, a friend who lives in Gent pointed out the hostel itself as a cheap place to eat! There is also an all-you-can eat spareribs place called Amadeus, you can see location map on here www.resto.be/ware/details.jsp…
For coffee etc., the cheapest café in town (if not in the whole of Belgium!) is the one at the Folklore Museum, illustrated on www.trabel.com/gent/gent-museumfolklore.htm. Tell the ticket desk you are just going to the café, which is in the courtyard.
4. Attractions are listed in tripadvisor.com/Attractions-g188666-Activiti…

Hi Maria,
What you should definately see in Ghent is the famous altarpiece %26quot;The Adoration Of The Mystic Lamb%26quot; in St. Bavo%26#39;s Cathedral.

The Amadeus - ribs restaurant. Steaks, ribs, mixed grill. Veggies don%26#39;t bother!
Near the Kornmarkt. Right in the centre beside the churches.
Cheap restaurant. Good atmosphere.
They leave a 1.5l bottle of wine on the table - you pay for the amount you drink.
No menu - you see prepared dishes.
There is another Amadeus but you%26#39;ll find it hard to find.
Afterwards spend an evening in the Gin bar. It%26#39;s not far from the taxis or trams. Just as well as you%26#39;ll never walk back to your hotel!
