I am trying to plan my honeymoon in Europe. We really want to go to Belgium and are trying to decide which city or cities to go to. Is one more beautiful than the other or are they both worth the stop?
Also, what is a good amount of time to stay in each city? We do not want to short change ourselves. We will be going to Paris and the Swiss Alps as well.

In my humble opinion, Brussels and Brugge are both worth a stop. Depending on how much time you have, visiting Brussels for a half to a full day is sufficient. The historic center of Brussels is worth a visit and there are a few sights beyond the core, but I have heard and read that beyond that there is not much else to see in Brussels. Staying in Brugge is a treat and I would suggest at least two nights with one full day. Brugge is picturesque, well-preserved, and very charming! For example, on a recent trip we visited Brussels for the day, took the train in the late afternoon to Brugge (approx. 1 hr.) stayed the night, toured Brugge for a full day, stayed a second night in Brugge and departed the next morning. We would have loved to stay in Brugge one more day as it was very lovely, but that was all the time we had. May I suggest, if possible, to stay at Number 11 Bed and Breakfast or the Goosehouse in Brugge. Both accommodations are owned by the same person and they are absolutely outstanding! Considering it is your honeymoon, these accommodations in Brugge may be a wonderful addition! I hope this helps! Good luck and enjoy!
