A day in Brussels--location, hotel, restaurant?

I%26#39;m having a quick trip to Belgium and will likely be having a day and 2 nights in Brussels. The free day will be rather short--the same day after arriving in the morning on an international flight. Would the Grand Place be the place to locate for a bit of walking and general impressions and a good restaurant?

Can you suggest a couple of good restaurants--medium to expensive priced? I%26#39;m not into beer or mussels, but more into comfort food with sauces. (I had a wonderful meal of flounder with Hollandaise sauce about 25 yrs ago in Belgium that I%26#39;d like to repeat!).

Any suggestions for hotels in the area that%26#39;s best to target?

This trip has come up fast so I haven%26#39;t had time to look at quide books or anything else.

Yes, I would advise you to stay around the Grand%26#39; Place, in the %26quot;Brussels hotels%26quot; list on the left you will find several places with %26quot;Grand%26#39; Place%26quot; in the title which would be fine. If you are arriving by air the train from the airport stops at Gare centrale (after Gare du Nord) and the Méridien Hotel is right across the road from the station, the Grand%26#39; Place is just down the hill.

Restaurants you would probably like in that area are L%26#39;Ogenblik in the Galerie des Princes (Galeries St. Hubert, close to the Grand%26#39; Place) and La Taverne du Passage in the main gallery, or you could consider Aux Armes de Bruxelles in the nearby rue des Bouchers (one of the few recommendable places in that street btw), you can check out the menu here if you click on English and then (on the left) %26quot;La carte et les menus%26quot;: http://www.armebrux.be/

Otherwise for seafood you could also go to the Ste. Catherine area, the other side of Place de Brouckère (2 stops on the metro from Gare centrale).

thanks so much for the information. The Aux Armes de Bruxelles menu looks exactly like the type of place I%26#39;m looking for. I was also able to get an idea of the L%26#39;Ogenblik menu (http://www.ogenblik.be/) and it looks very good too.
