Things for kids

We are going to see a ten year old in Brussels on the 10th to the 11th Feb. Is there any festivals or events running that weekend that would be suitable for a child. Is there any web sites that can help with this sort info.

Any help would be great!

The only think I know of that%26#39;s on that weekend is the Holiday Show at the Heysel, where the stands from different countries often offer displays of dancing or whatever; which might appeal to a child although I don%26#39;t like the crowds, myself. It costs €8 to get in, but local publications often offer vouchers and you can order up to 2 free tickets on here if you can a) manage in French and b) give an address in Brussels for delivery: www.vosvacances.be/BEFR/site/freeticket.aspx

You can also buy Brussels%26#39; weekly news magazine, The Bulletin, on arrival - it comes out on Thursdays - and look in the What%26#39;s On section for children%26#39;s activities.

In my experience kids are not that interested in the Comic Book Museum but they do like the Natural History Museum, have a look at http://www.naturalsciences.be/index_html, and Scientastic, http://www.scientastic.com/EN/IntroE.htm.

One thing NOT to do at the moment is to visit the Children%26#39;s Museum in Ixelles, at least without checking beforehand. In the high winds a couple of weeks ago a neighbouring chimney gave way and smashed through its roof.

Mind you I think if I were a 10-year old I might just prefer to be taken to the cinema or skating or something. The (small) ice-skating rink at the Conrad Hotel is apparently there until 14 Feb and otherwise there%26#39;s a covered one next to the Poseidon swimming pool by Tomberg metro station.
