Bruges to Paris

Planning our trip around Belgium, France and Switzerland.

This is what we are thinking...

Arrive in Brussels and take train to Bruges.

Bruges to Paris.

Paris to Switzerland

Switzerland to Brussels.

Taking the train seems to be the most convienant. I know the train ride from Brussels to Bruges in about an hour.

How easy is it to get from Bruges to Paris?

As easy as it is to get from Paris to Brugge!! See tripadvisor.com/ShowTopic-g188671-i448-k9759…

The easiest way is to return to Brussels and take the Thalys from Gare du Midi, which takes 1h22 minutes to Paris Gare du Nord. For prices for your date of travel see www.thalys.com.

It is apparently cheaper to go via Lille, but this will require changing in Kortrijk as well as (at some times) between Lille-Flandres and Lille-Europe stations, which could be a consideration if you have a lot of luggage.

Assuming that you are arriving at Brussels Airport, for your trip to Brugge you would take the train from below the airport to Bruxelles-Nord (which carries on to the gare centrale and gare du Midi) and change there for Brugge. The trains to Oostende, De Panne or Blankenberghe, of which there are several every hour, take an hour to Brugge stopping on the way at Gent, but there are also slower commuter trains, some of which take twice as long because they stop everywhere.

For your return to Brussels from Switzerland, if you want to do it by train Basel is on the line that goes through Strasbourg and Luxembourg to Brussels
