Is it worth spending the money for a 1st class seat? Going to be going in the fall. Thanks.

No, Second Class is perfectly fine. First Class is mostly tourists on Eurail passes and business people on the company%26#39;s dime. The business people are likely doing business things and the tourists are probably from the US (I can talk to them at home).
I%26#39;d rather be in Second Class where I might meet some interesting local people. Talking with the %26quot;locals%26quot; is always fun and often the most memorable part of any trip.
If you want to be sure of a window seat, then get a reservation for a small fee.

No, not for me anyway. But then, I don%26#39;t care for business or first class for flights within Europe either.
