Layover in Brussels

I will have about six hours (daytime) layover in Brussels en route to Rome. Any suggestions how to spend the time (sites, etc)?

I would take the train from below the airport to Gare centrale (€2.80 one way), from where it is a 5-minute walk downhill to the Grand%26#39; Place, and spend your time walking around that area (including the nearby Galeries St. Hubert). Don%26#39;t forget that you will need to leave the centre of town a couple of hours before your flight (more if your luggage isn%26#39;t booked straight through to Rome and you have to check in again on the landside of the airport). If have checked it to your final destination, then unless you can get the boarding card for your Rome flight issued at the airport from which you are flying to Brussels, you%26#39;ll need to get it from the transit desk (airside) before you go through passport control and leave the airport.

If you want to sample the famous Brussels waffles (which we don%26#39;t eat for breakfast but as a snack), the best place to do so is the café on the 1st floor (possibly 2nd to you) of Dandoy in rue de l%26#39;Etuve, one block from the Grand%26#39; Place down the street which begins with a brass bas relief (t%26#39;Serclaes) and leads to the Manneken Pis.
