Luxembourg day trip

Hi

We are travelling to Brussels very early tomorrow morning, we should be in the city centre by 10.30 so this really is a last minutet question.

Someone has suggested we take a day trip to Luxembourg during our stay in Brussels. We are already planning a day trip to Brugge.

Does anyone have any opinion if its worth going to Luxembourg just for a day trip?

Or let us know what Luxembourg town is like?

Thanks

Personally I don%26#39;t think it is worth it, it takes 3 hours to get there by train, which is longer than I like for a day trip, and while I really don%26#39;t like Luxembourg Ville at all, if it has any charms (view from the casemates, or defences) it would be in good weather only. At the moment it is cold here in Brussels and the forecast for this weekend is for fog see www.bbc.co.uk/weather/5day.shtml?world=0037 (change for Luxembourg to see weather there but I don%26#39;t think it is usually very different from here).

I don%26#39;t know how to explain what Luxembourg is like, I would suggest you look up the Luxembourg forum and check %26quot;Luxembourg attractions%26quot; in the list on the left-hand side of the page.

If you want to go, convenient trains might be dep. Bruxelles-Nord 08:45, arr. Luxembourg-Ville 11:36 and return dep. 20:24 arr. 23:15 (last train to arrive on the same day). There is at least one train an hour if not more, and you trains travel through 5 Brussels stations on their way out - Gare du Midi, Gare Centrale, Gare du Nord, Schuman and, not surprisingly, Gare de Luxembourg.

Thanks for that. To be honest I%26#39;m not that interested in going myself I tend to prefer to spend time in the country I am visiting rather than other towns and cities around it.
