Groceries?

We want to get some items for lunch on the train or snacks for our room (such as bottled beer/wine, crackers, cheese, fruit, etc).

We%26#39;re staying near Bourse / Grand Place so anywhere around rue Antoine Dansaert or blvd Anspach general area would be good.

Need a place that is open on Saturday afternoon.

Thanks!

p.s. if there are chain grocers, just tell me some names and I%26#39;ll google for locations

There are at least 2 supermarkets in the area, a Delhaize on a corner of Bd. Anspach a block or so towards Rogier from Bourse (on the same side as Macdonalds) and a GB a couple of blocks behind that. There is also a small GB in the rue au Beurre between the Grand%26#39; Place and the back of the Bourse, and if your train is to Paris, you will be leaving from Gare du Midi and there is a GB there too (as well as an automatic distributor open 24/7). It is on the Eurostar/Thalys side of the station, coming from the metro/tram station, take the escalator up to the railway station then turn right, walk as far as possible and you will see it on the left; if you find yourself in the main part of the station, look for Sam%26#39;s Café (with the zebra outside..) opposite the Eurostar terminal, then take the aisle to the right of that and the GB is on the left, near the exit to Tour du Midi.

All supermarkets are open on Saturday afternoons.

Delhaize have private label items that can save you a lot of money. For example, they sell a can of Coca-cola for about .55 but their private label soda sells for .19 and has three flavors: cola, orange and lemon-lime. I used to work in a grocery and Delhaize was always my first choice on my recent trip into Belgium.
