My wife and I were planning to take her mother on a 3-night break in Brugge in early November. However, we are now wondering whether early December might be a more interesting option.
We haven%26#39;t been before so don%26#39;t know what Brugge is like at Christmas. So, would it be better to go for an Autumn trip or a Christmas one?
Oh, and when do the Christmas markets start (hope it%26#39;s not September!!!)

Personally I prefer Brugge in the Autumn, and TA users whose views are already on this site certainly don%26#39;t recommend visiting solely for the Christmas market, see tripadvisor.com/Attraction_Review-g188671-d2…
I%26#39;m sure you could have googled for the dates of the Brugge Christmas market just as well as I could, last year they were from 24/11-31/12 but there was also a Winter Fair from 28/10-17/12.

Many thanks for your helpful response.
It%26#39;s an easier decision that I thought - we%26#39;ll go for Autumn.

Christmas market starts last weekend of November.
Atmosphere is great. The market itself nothing special but shops are a big plus.
Don%26#39;t let the expert from Brussels try to be an expert for Bruges .. ;))
Autumn and winter are both nice periods to go to Bruges.

We had a family Christmas in Brugge and stayed 22nd to 27th Dec it was superb and really enjoyed the time and the people there.
Correct the market isnt that great but the atmosphere, shops and market stalls made it all worth while. Makes it feel like Christmas used to be..... before the UK retail trade hi jacked it !! The Ice Exhibition was also on which was stunning.
If you dont mind the cold then December is great, but I guess with a little more warmth in the autumn it will be just as nice. To be honest Brugge is a great place to visit anytime of year!
Enjoy your trip.
