I hope it is ok to write again. We fly into Paris the first of May.We will be renting a car.(Actually we will do the %26quot;buy back program if we stay for at least 17 days...auto europe ) We thought we would like to drive to Brugge.
Which is best %26quot;off the beaten %26quot;track way to go?Are there any cities which we should avoid on our way?
We also want to drive south through a bit of Germany on our way to Switzerland and Lauterbrunnen. We will have either 14 or 21 days. We are first timers to Europe and don%26#39;t know if 21 days is too long.
We are also seniors...but in pretty good shape. We love people, the outdoors and like to stay off the major roads as much as possible. We have a lot to learn. Any advice on places to go, to avoid, etc. will be gratefully appreciated. We were going to go to Normandy for three days and then drive to the Brugge area...but have been reading and think maybe that is too much. What do you think? We do know we don%26#39;t want to stay a different place each day. We would also love any hints on places to stay. B and B%26#39;s or hotels. We fly out of Zurich.
Thanks for any help you can give!!! :)

Hi Richiepad,
A nice itinarary would be the following : starting in Paris and going westwards towards Normandy towards the coast/Rouen. In that direction you can visit Vernon (gardens of painterClaude Monet), Rouen, Deauville and further south or north (depending if you want to visit the several war monuments).
From Normandy you can drive towards Abbeville/Boulogne/Calais... while visiting the white cliffs Cap Griz Nez/Blanc Nez.
In Calais you can choose either to take the ferry towards England or drive on to Bruges...
Belgium has very good motorways so after Bruges don%26#39;t miss Ghent and Brussels and you can drive on towards Cologne and Germany... In Germany driving southwards on the %26#39;Romantic street%26#39; is wonderful... don%26#39;t miss Rothenburg on the Tauber, Wurzburg and Fussen and then you can drive on to Switserland and back to France via the Alsace region...
If you need more info or tips, let me know or you can mail directly on johan.segaert@telenet.be...
Greetings !
