Bruges - Chocolate Festival April 6-10

The Choco Festival is held in Oud Sint Jan Center, is it in the central of the city? I will be taking a side trip from Brussels to Bruges to attend the festival, which station should I select when buying the ticket on-line? Thanks!

Trains from Brussels arrive at the station called Brugge, which is about 5 minutes%26#39; walk from the Oud Sint Jan Center: http://www.sec-bruges.be/homepage.asp?taal=en

Mind you, I would not, myself, buy the train ticket online as there is no need for and no price advantage in advance purchase, especially if you will have to pick up the ticket at the station anyway; I would just buy it at the station on the day of travel.

Hi gaminari,

Thanks for your reply and advice. But, I am wondering whether seats will be available on the Easter Sunday with a festival on too, even though trains seem to run every hour from Brussels to Bruges?

On a Sunday (in fact specifically Sunday 8/4) there are 2 trains an hour to Brugge, from Bruxelles-central (I don%26#39;t know which station you wanted to use) these leave on the hour and at 27 minutes past the hour.

It makes no difference whether you buy the ticket online in advance or not - it%26#39;s like a bus or metro ticket, having a prepaid one in your hand does not mean you will get a seat!! It is not the same as a seat reservation, which as far as I know you can (indeed must) only make on international high-speed or night trains. Whether online, by mail order, through ticket machines or in person at the counters, Belgian Railways will sell any number of tickets to Brugge on or for a specific date - they don%26#39;t know or care which exact trains people are going to take. If there are no seats left, people either have to stand, or get off and wait for the next train. If you don%26#39;t want to take this chance, I would advise you to go first class. But there also, it makes no difference buying the ticket online or in person.

A chocolate festival?? Will it be going on over Palm Sunday? Can you tell me the times and where it is? Thanks.

No, it is only held from April 6-10, not April 1 (Palm Sunday).

Sorry, I mixed the dates.

Thank you for letting me know the site!

when buying the ticket online you print the ticket and show this to the conductor. You don%26#39;t need to pick up the ticket at the counter.

The festival last year was a big hit with lines of people waiting outside. Be early or late (after 4pm) to visit.
