Hi

I’m staying at the Metropole Hotel next week and I wondered if someone could recommend a good bar/club nearby where I can watch the FA Cup replay (Manchester United v Reading) on Tuesday 27th February.

Many thanks in advance and I hope that someone can help me in my quest.

The only place I would be certain of is Fat Boys Sports Café in Place du Luxembourg, near Trône metro (although you would reach it more easily by no. 60 bus from next to the Monnaie Center, which stops just around the corner from Fat Boys).

Probably also the Old Oak in rue Franklin, near Schuman metro station.

However, you could try Churchills pub on the corner of rue de l%26#39;Ecuyer and rue de la Fourche, just up the road from the Place de la Monnaie where the opera house is , and maybe 5 minutes walk from your hotel.

Nearest for you is the Irish bar opposite the Beurs/Bourse about 300m down the road from the Metropole. Can you change your hotel? Not a good choice. looks grand but needs attention to the rooms...Tip ask for the Vendome (100m opposite) for their new rooms...

Hi All and many thanks for the tips and suggestions.

Having now returned from my short trip I am pleased to say that in my opinion the Metropole was a good choice (my room was in very good condition).

With regard to the football, I had a choice; the Irish Bar down the road (I think it was O%26#39;Reilys) or having spoken with the Bar Manager at the Metropole they set up a widescreen TV in the Bar area in order that I could watch the match on their premises.

Whilst the result didn%26#39;t go the way I wanted it to go, I still enjoyed my time in Brussels and I can%26#39;t thank the Hotel enough for the trouble that they went to with regard to setting up the TV.

Full marks to the Metropole for customer service.
