Hello, just wanted your opinion on if this hotel is far from the centre of town to walk. I%26#39;m a bit concerned that it is too far out and I may want to stay somewhere closer to, say the Vleeshuis.
Thanks!

The Rubenshof is not in the historical centre. It%26#39;s close to a trendy neighborhoud called Het Zuid. To the Market Place (historical centre) is a 30 min. walk or a 5-10 min. tram ride.
If you%26#39;re looking for budget accomodation in the historical centre, check De Postiljon. It%26#39;s next to Our Lady%26#39;s Cathedral, couldn%26#39;t be more central. Website: http://www.hotelpostiljon.be/

Thanks so much, I%26#39;ll check it out.

Thanks so much, I have gone ahead and booked my room at Postiljon. You mentioned that the area around the Rubenshof is worth visiting, though. Are there any other areas worth leaving the old town for? (I%26#39;m into vintage clothes, designer clothes, new/used record shops, etc)

Designer clothes can mostly be found at Nationalestraat, Kammenstraat, Lombardenvest, Steenhouwersvest, ... which is in the centre. I%26#39;m not sure about vintage clothes.
Record shops: there%26#39;s a small shop called Brabo Records on Grote Markt 54. They have (or at least had %26#39;cause I haven%26#39;t been there for some time) a huge collection of used vinyl records.
Brocante and antiques can be found at Kloosterstraat (just off the historical centre).
The %26#39;trendy south%26#39; is where the Royal Museum of Fine Arts and the Museum of Contemporary Art is. Lots of restaurants there too, on Waalse Kaai, Vlaamse Kaai, Leopold de Waelplaats.
In case you%26#39;re interested in architecture, take a tram or bus upto Cogels-Osylei. This is the art-deco district (it%26#39;s smallish, just a few streets) with very beautiful 19th century houses. All are on the national monuments list.
Check out the city map on http://www.antwerpen.be/eCache/BEN/52.html
Better yet is to get yourself a map at the tourist office upon your arrival.

Thank you so much! I%26#39;m very interested in early 20th century architecture. I%26#39;m very much looking foward to seeing your beautiful train station.
