Hi, My husband and I (Seniors) in May will be taking a train form Amsterdam to Brugge; we must change trains in Berchem. We have concerns that we will be faced with having to go up or down a flight of stairs with our luggage if we have to change platforms. (My husband uses a cane.) Does anyone know if there is an escalator, or lift? Any other details about this station would be very helpful.
Thanks

According to the information on b-rail.be/nat/…index.php for Antwerpen-Berchem, there is an escalator going up, but not down. However, the station has staff available from 05:15 till 00:45 every day to assist passengers with limited mobility. It is recommended to phone 32-3/204 2040 (from outside Belgium: from inside Belgium replace 32-3 with 03) at least 24 hours in advance to ask about current facilities and if necessary, request assistance with luggage.

Thank you for that helpful information. I%26#39;ll print out your message and bring the phone numbers with us. One more question: do you know if there is a way to determine from the timetables what platform a train will arrive on, and the platform a connecting train will depart from?

There isn%26#39;t from the B-Rail site, but I have found this information is sometimes given on the German Railways site (covers the whole of Europe), so try looking it up on here: http://bahn.hafas.de/bin/query.exe/en
Otherwise, you could ask this question of the station staff when you phone.

Thank you, once again. I%26#39;ll try that.
